Reiki Healing

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being by channeling energy. The word “Reiki” comes from two Japanese words: “Rei,” meaning “universal,” and “Ki,” meaning “life force energy.” Reiki is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through all living beings, and its balance or depletion affects a person’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Principles of Reiki:

  1. Energy Healing: Reiki practitioners believe that energy can become blocked in the body due to emotional or physical trauma. By channeling positive energy, these blockages can be removed, allowing the body to heal itself.
  1. Universal Energy: Reiki is considered a universal healing method, meaning it can be practiced and received by anyone, regardless of age or condition.
  1. Hands-On or Hands-Off Healing: The practitioner uses their hands to channel healing energy, either through direct touch or by hovering their hands above the body.
  1. Holistic Approach: Reiki addresses the whole person, including body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation, feelings of peace, security, and overall well-being.

How Does Reiki Work?

During a Reiki session, the client lies down fully clothed, while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body, directing healing energy into areas where it is most needed. Sessions typically last between 60 to 90 minutes and are meant to induce a meditative, relaxed state.

The energy flows through the practitioner, who acts as a conduit. The receiver’s body absorbs the energy where it is needed most. Some describe feeling warmth, tingling, or a sense of calm during a session, while others simply feel deeply relaxed.

Benefits of Reiki:

  • Stress Reduction and Relaxation: One of the most common uses of Reiki is to reduce stress, as stress often leads to physical and emotional health problems.
  • Emotional Healing: Reiki can help release emotional blockages, allowing people to process emotions like fear, anger, and sadness in a healthier way.
  • Physical Healing: While Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatments, it can complement traditional medicine by promoting faster healing, reducing pain, and improving overall well-being.
  • Spiritual Growth: Reiki can help deepen one’s connection with their inner self and the universe, fostering personal growth and a sense of purpose.
